Sometimes it's the little things that make it all worth it. And when I say "all" I mean scraping dried food off the kitchen table, discovering new ways to remove artwork from every surface in my house, all the "fun" that potty-training entails, what to wear to church that will survive the fishy crackers, snot, drool etc. and when to go to the emergency room and when to just stay home and pray!
Some of my favorite little things from this week:
Lukey came running out of the bathroom triumphantly carrying three toothbrushes in each hand. The smile on his face told the story of how proud of himself he was. The dripping wet hands let me know they most likely all of them took a swim in the toilet!
Jeffey named his new stuff dog "Waggy Tail"...nuff said.
Last Monday during FHE we were telling Ben the story of Nephi getting the brass plates from Laban. We explained that Nephi hit Laban on the head with a sword (we'll elaborate more later) and then dressed in his clothes to fool his servant. Ben thought for a moment and said "Then was Laban naked?"
I love the little things that make me smile.
Oh, and Luke loves to dance to the songs on American Idol...life is good.

I love my husband, I never see him, but I love him!
We had a really relaxing Valentines Day. Last year we gave up waiting in long lines and traded going out for lunch instead of dinner...best decision we've made thus far in my opinion. Especially great this year because Bri had a final at night. So I swapped babysitting with my sis and we had a great lunch. My sweet friend brought me a rose and "Becoming Jane" in the afternoon and I sat on the couch and cried all night. Great movie...highly recommend it. Brian bought me flowers last week, which I love being suprised with and they were still beautiful yesterday. He also got me photoshop, he didn't think it was very sexy, I disagreed and thought it was highly thoughtful.
I love my hubby and am so greatful for the life we share. We are so busy right now and it is really tough to love all the mundane tasks, but I really couldn't ask for much more. (maybe a little more time with him, but there's always retirement right?)
The icing on the cake was when Bri came home and told me he got and A in Economics...now that is VERY sexy! Congrats babe.

100 Things About Me
I don't usually do the challenge thing on my blog, but I loved reading Kim's so much I thought it would be fun. Even if no one else reads this I figure it might be good for posterity and make up for my lack of dedication to journalling. Here goes... (this is a pic of me and my beautiful sister)
1. I just finished playing Candyland with my three-year old, and lost miserably.
2. I grew up in Canada and miss it often.
3. I love living in a big city with major events and sports teams.
4. My first date with my husband was on 9/11.
5. My hair is naturally red.
6. I have one younger sister that I would like to be like when I one day.
7. I love to start projects and am terrible at cleaning them up.
8. My favorite channel is the Food Network, especially Iron Chef America.
9. I have voted for Dancing with the Stars contestants.
10. I love vacuming.
11. I hate cleaning showers/bathtubs.
12. I spent most of the first three years living in AZ, living outside.
13. I have gone two weeks without a shower.
14. I have eaten ants on purpose and cooked food in the ashes of a fire.
15. I love hot chocolate.
16. I love learning how to be a better homemaker.
17. For fun, my husband and I look on MLS at houses that are for sale.
18. I tevo Martha Stewart.
19. I would love to meet Paula Dean someday.
20. I have spent five months of my life sitting on a couch.
21. Brian is currently getting his MBA and I am so proud of him.

Got Oreos and Organic Milk?
I had "one of those days" yesterday. The kind where you want to cry before you get out of bed because you are about a week behind on housework, have no groceries and it is "wash hair day"!
My source of sanity came when my babies went to bed and Ben and I sat at the kitchen table and shared some oreos dipped in organic milk. (ben's all time fav snack)
If you know me well, I am a little frugal when it comes to groceries and to spend $4 + on a gallon of milk makes me cringe. However, my sister has convinced me it might just be worth the extra $$$. And I must admit it felt like I was doing something responsible for my children. It's well worth the research to at least review the facts. We Thank O God For a Prophet
It was a bittersweet moment when our family heard of President Hinckley's passing last night. The world will morn the loss of this sweet man, but I'm sure the heavens rejoiced to welcome him home. We are grateful for all the councel and wisdom and the legacy of hope that he left behind for our family. How blessed we feel to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoy the peace that comes from a knowledge of the restored gospel. We are also so grateful for our Savior Jesus Christ and his Atonment which brings the promise of eternal life and a chance to be reunited with our loved ones.

We lost the race...and things couldn't have been any better!
Saturday night was our family's first Pinewood derby. Not only was this a race it was an Elder's Quorm Extreme Derby where all bets are off. My boys built a car that weighed a ton and we set off hoping for the best. When we arrived and saw three cars with propellors we knew we didn't stand a chance. Not only did we not win first place, but were awarded the flat tire cake for coming in last after losing a wheel repeatedly. But nothing could damper Ben's spirits. In his three year old mind we had the fastest, best, coolest car and it was the highlight of his year! He left the building telling us confidently that we were the only ones that got a cake. A great night had by all.
